Founded in 1894, the Detroit Tigers are the oldest team in the American League to not change names or cities throughout their history. Detroit has been pleased with their Tigers, who have won four World Series and 11 AL Pennants.

The Kansas City Royals reached the World Series in both 2014 and 2015 for the first time since 1985. They lost the 2014 World Series in seven games but dominated the 2015 World Series, defeating the New York Mets in five games.
